The Sandy Valley Varsity Wrestling team competed in the Division III District Wrestling Tournament this weekend. The Cardinals placed two wrestlers in which will advance to the STATE TOURNAMENT in Columbus next weekend. Leading the way for the Cards was Francesco Borsellino becoming a District champion in the 285lbs weight class. Hunter Stoffer placed 4th at 152lbs. to capture his 2nd STATE appearance of his career. Other notables were Jacob Newell winning 2 matches , Cooper Hemming winning 1 match and Caleb Blair with Distriict qualification. Overall I think we wrestled well I’m happy to see most of our team qualify for Districts. Having 1/4 of our team qualify for the State Tournament is Great. On the flip side we need to fill more weight classes to be able to compete for big acolades like a District title and become competetive in dual meet and tournament competition. We have proven that we are able to develop wrestlers within our system. Our biggest battle is getting kids to come out and buy into our system because we work hard and the season is long and grueling. We have a bright future a head of us and I’m extreme proud to be a part of SANDY VALLEY WRESTLING!
