Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Indian Valley Braves

Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity took the lead late and defeated Indian Valley Braves 3-2 on Saturday. Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Izzy Hysong singled off of K Tschudy, driving in one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Makayla Loveless struck out four, while K Tschudy sat down two.

Indian Valley Braves captured the lead in the first inning. M Spillman tripled on a 0-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

Loveless earned the win for Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity. She threw seven innings, surrendering two runs, five hits, striking out four, and walking zero. Tschudy took the loss for Indian Valley Braves. She pitched six innings, surrendering three runs, five hits, and striking out two.

Meggie Otte and Izzy Hysong each drove in one run to lead Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity.

The Sandy Valley girls track team competed at the Knights Invitational on Saturday April 8th. The top placers for the Cardinals were:
Halie Sciury 2nd in the long jump
Kiannah Sarver, Mercedes Sarver. Ruby Behm, and Ana Daniska were 6th in the 4 by 800 meter relay.
Kiannah Sarver, Mercedes Sarver, Alicia Costello, and Olivia Costellio were 7th in the 4 by 400 meter relay.
Alana Hill was 8th in the shot put.

Game Recap

The Varsity baseball team beat Strasburg by a score of 5-3. Led by an excellent pitching performance by sophomore Cameron Woods. Pitching 6 innings striking out 7 tiger hitters. SV was led offensively by Senior Catcher Blake Offenberger 2 hits, 1 double, 2 RBI’s & scoring 2 runs. The Cardinals improve to 3-1 in the IVC and 5-3 overall. The JV’s also beat Strasburg by a score of 14-1.

The Cardinals stormed out of the gate with a 3 run first inning. They continued to put the pressure on by scoring at least one run in every inning including a 6 run 4th inning. Brandon Loveless went a complete game (5 innings) not allowing any earned runs to pick up his first win of the year.

Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Strasburg Tigers

Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity and Strasburg Tigers traded the lead back-and-forth on Wednesday, but eventually Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity prevailed 7-6. Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity took the lead for good in the fourth inning. The game was tied at five with Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity batting in the top of the fourth when Makayla Loveless homered off of H Duff, driving in two runs.

Strasburg Tigers scored four runs in the second inning, but Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Strasburg Tigers came thanks to a home run by E Clark and a home run by H Riefenschneider.

Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. Meggie Otte drove in one when she homered in the first inning.

Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Izzy Hysong singled off of H Duff, driving in one run.

Strasburg Tigers scored four runs in the second inning. Strasburg Tigers’s big inning was driven by a home run by Clark and a home run by Riefenschneider.

Makayla Loveless earned the win for Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity. She threw seven innings, allowing six runs, ten hits, striking out three, and walking zero. Duff took the loss for Strasburg Tigers. She pitched seven innings, giving up seven runs, seven hits, striking out five, and walking zero.

Home runs for Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity came when Otte homered in the first inning and Loveless homered in the fourth inning. Home runs for Strasburg Tigers came when Riefenschneider homered in the second inning, Clark homered in the second inning, and T Alleshouse homered in the third inning.

Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity collected seven hits. Loveless and Otte each collected multiple hits for Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity. Otte and Loveless each managed two hits to lead Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity. Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kayla Campbell had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

Strasburg Tigers had ten hits in the game. E Rieger, Riefenschneider, Clark, and Duff each collected multiple hits for Strasburg Tigers.

Sandy Valley Boys Track finished in 2nd place in a tri-meet against Ridgewood and Tuscarawas Central Catholic. The final score was, Ridgewood with 116, Sandy Valley Cardinals with 37, and Tuscarawas Central Catholic with 16 points. Individuals placing for the the Cardinals were:

Aleks Rymer finished 2nd in the 400 meter and 3rd in the 200 meter

On Tuesday April 4th the Sandy Valley Girls Track team hosted Ridgewood and Tuscarawas Central Catholic. The Cardinals ended up scoring 41 points, Ridgewood with 75.5, and Tuscarawas Central Catholic with 54.5 points. Top placers for the Cardinals were:
