The Sandy Valley Cardinals snatched victory from the jaws of defeat last night when they came back from a three goal deficit to beat local rivals Canton South. The Cardinals got off to a bright start in the match and mounted some very promising attacks on the Canton South goal. However, the Cardinals could not make their early pressure count and found themselves 3-0 down at halftime. The Cardinals regrouped and refocused at the half and came out with terrific energy and purpose. Brayden Ashton started the comeback with a nice strike from 30 yards out that nestled into the bottom corner. Set pieces were a threat all night for the Cardinals and finally paid off with two goals scored by Tad Grooms and Jamon McCort from a long throw and a corner from Tyler Lumbert. The comeback was completed 5 minutes before the end of the game when another set piece dropped into the box and was scrambled over the line by the men in red.
