The Cardinals suffered their first loss of the season this past Saturday at the hands of Minerva. The Cardinals were punished for their slow start by conceding a goal two minutes into the first half. Minerva’s pace in the wide areas were a constant threat to the Cardinal’s back line, and the inability for the Cardinals to take their chances from set pieces meant that Minerva went into the half with a 3-0 lead. The Cardinals came out for the second half with a lot more energy but could not make it count. Another three Minerva goals in the second half sealed the result for the home team. The Cardinals did earn a late consolation goal through Jamon McCort who rose high above the rest to head home from 5 yards out from a Tyler Lumbert delivery.
The Cardinals will hope to get their season back on track this coming Tuesday when they face Caldwell in a home match at 5.
