Congratulations to the Sandy Valley Wrestling Team on finishing as 2019 Eastern Sectional Runners up today and tying the school record of 11 district qualifiers. The Cards finished with 212.5 points, and were narrowly edged out by Coshocton (218 points) for the Championship. The top 4 wrestlers in each weight qualify for the District Tournament at Buckeye Local this weekend. Individual placers were: Seth Armstrong and Matt Gentry in 4th place; Brody Marks, Devin Watkins, Josh Newell, and Curtis DeLong in 3rd place; Jacob Newell and Reece Franks were Runners Up and
Justin King, Cam Blair, and Wyatt Moyer were your Sectional Champions!

This weekend was certainly bitter sweet. We have been working towards the goal of becoming Sectional Champions and we fell just a few points shy of accomplishing that goal. On the bright side, I believe our team is peaking at the right time and we are wrestling well overall. It was a great feeling being able to qualify 11 out of 12 wrestlers to the district tournament. It shows the program is moving in the right direction. This coming week of practice will be critical because the competition only gets tougher from here on out. We will need to fine tune our technique and add to our arsenal.
