Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-2 loss to Ridgewood on Tuesday. Ridgewood scored on a single by Mladek in the first inning, a triple by Harding in the second inning, and a passed ball during S Harding’s at bat in the second inning.
In the first inning, Ridgewood got their offense started when Mladek singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Stocker pitched Ridgewood to victory. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four.
Hannah Deford took the loss for Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity. The righthander went seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one.
Deford led Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Ridgewood tallied nine hits in the game. Mladek, Moore, and Harding each had multiple hits for Ridgewood. Mladek went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Ridgewood in hits. Ridgewood was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Moore made the most plays with four.
