On Saturday, the Lady Cardinals track team travelled to Perry High School for the annual Stark County Championships. Sandy Valley was able to be competitive against even the Division I schools. Scoring overall (all divisions) were Lexi Tucci tying for 3rd in the high jump, Julie Muller placing 8th in the high jump, and Alaina Heller placing 4th in the 300 meter hurdles.

The competition also allowed for segmented scoring, with DI being scored solo and DII/DIII schools combining for the second category. Sandy Valley also was competitive in the DII/DIII school division with placers in several events. Lexi Tucci led the team with 3 places (4th in the 200 m dash, 2nd in high jump, and 7th in the long jump). Julie Muller also placed in the high jump earning the 4th spot. Alaina Heller took 1st in the 300 meter hurdles, while Elaina White placed 8th in the 100 meter hurdles. And to round out the Cardinal effort, Deana Petersen placed 8th in the 1600 meter run. Way to go, Cardinals! Sandy Valley will be back in action on Tuesday at Malvern beginning at 4:30.
